Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba will finalize his deal to Manchester United by the end of this week. The Frenchman’s agent, Mino Raiola has flown to Miami to meet with his client regarding the final details of the contract.
Juventus has agreed to pay Napoli a transfer fee of $102.28 million for striker Gonzalo Higuain and it is believed in the Italian media circle that Pogba’s exit from the club will be announced soon. It all depends now on Manchester United to pay Raiola and Pogba the 20% bonus they are due, which amounts to a staggering $24 million, according to Daily Mail.
The transfer fee for the 23-year-old has drawn specific criticism from certain sections of the United faithful’s. Old Trafford legend, Paul Scholes has recently laid his opinion that Pogba is not worth the amount the Red Devils are paying.
“For that sort of money, you want someone who is going to score 50 goals a season like Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi. Pogba is nowhere worth that kind of money.” Scholes said, as reported by Sport Witness.
Scholes went on to mention that although the Frenchman has achieved great things in his career already, he needs a lot of improvement to be worth the amount United is paying.
“He was a very talented young player, I played with him and I knew how good he was. He played for the first team maybe once or twice, but from my understanding he was asking for too much money.” Scholes added.
Despite the concerns showed by the United legend, the Old Trafford hierarchy wants to complete the Paul Pogba deal by the end of this week. Real Madrid did make a late enquiry to capture the player from Juventus, but are not interested to match the financial package offered by United.
It is believed that the man from Lagny-sur-Marne, France will earn $380,291-a-week at Old Trafford. Juventus coach, Massimiliano Allegri has also confirmed that his club is negotiating a deal with United for Pogba.
