Will Jose Mourinho become the new boss of Cristiano Ronaldo and company? The Portuguese manager was expected to sign a deal with the Manchester United, but now Real Madrid has stormed in the race to rope in their former manager Mourinho. The Red Devils has failed to pitch a concrete offer to the superstar manager, and Real are eyeing to replace Zinedine Zidane with him.

After winning the El Classico last Saturday, the Spanish giants suffered a shocking defeat against the Wolfsburg in the first leg quarterfinal of the Champions League on Wednesday. If Zinedine Zidane’s men fail to turn the odds in the return leg against the Bundesliga outfit, Real management will waste no time to ink a deal with Mourinho, according to the Mirror reports.

Mourinho earlier rejected a move to Madrid in January as he was optimistic of signing a contract with the Manchester United, but now the Portuguese manager is considering a return to his former club, where he won the league title in 2011-2012 season. That was the last time the Spanish giants won the league. The former Chelsea boss is also getting edgy regarding his chances of replacing Louis Van Gaal at Old Trafford.

Zinedine Zidane first stint as a coach in Real Madrid hasn’t lived up to expectations. Club President Florentino Perez is eager to steady the ship and feels that roping in Mourinho would guarantee trophies, which the other managers have failed to deliver in the recent past.

The insiders of the Premiership giants revealed that United still remains undecided about their next season manager’s post. And the feeling in the Manchester United camp is that Van Gaal shall be retained as the boss if the Red Devils qualify for the next season’s champions league.
