Real Madrid will be looking to overcome a two-goal deficit as they host VfL Wolfsburg on Tuesday at the Santiago Bernabeu. Let’s take a look at the preview of the second leg of Real Madrid vs. Wolfsburg in the 2016 UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
Wolfsburg shocked Madrid last week at the Volkswagen Arena with a 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Ricardo Rodriguez and Maximilian Arnold. Los Blancos will be looking to bounce back if they want to move on to the semifinals and continue the pursuit for their 11th Champions League trophy.
Madrid defeated Eibar over the weekend as they have the momentum going into the match against the German side.
“Wolfsburg are going to start with intensity and we need the same intensity and it’s going to be decided with the ball, how much we fight and run. Everyone is going to do that but the most important thing is we play football,” Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane told BBC.
On the other hand, Wolfsburg drew against Mainz putting their hopes of Champions League football in the rear view. They currently sit 7th in the Bundesliga table but they are in good form in Europe this season.
“Everyone knows we are not playing perfectly in our own league but we are doing very well in the Champions League. We had a great start in the first game and it is not being arrogant to say we can qualify. We knew we needed two magnificent days, we already had one and now we need another one,” Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking said.
