Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has been linked with a transfer to English Premier League (EPL) side Chelsea in the January transfer window. However, the news has no merit associated with it aside from the fact that the Germany international is spending his holiday in London.
Kroos posted a picture of himself outside Hemleys toy shop on Instagram. This was the base for a rumor which suggested and fuelled speculation that the former Bayern Munich player was on his way to Stamford Bridge, according to The Sun.
However, it is extremely common for La Liga players to spend their Christmas away from Spain. The Spanish league has a winter break in its calendar. Almost all the foreign players like to spend this time with their families.
There has been no official comment from either of Real Madrid or Kroos himself regarding the transfer. This also leaves the speculation as a rumor without any particular merit.
Moreover, the 26-year-old recently signed a new contract with Real Madrid. This will extend his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2022. The Los Blancos also value the player at around $90 million.
Chelsea could reportedly be put off by Kroos’ valuation since the London club recently retracted their interest in another Madrid player, James Rodriguez. The Colombian is valued at $74 million and is desperate to leave Spain. However, the Blues hierarchy feels that the attacking midfielder is too expensive.

Kroos however, did reveal earlier in 2014 of his admiration for Chelsea. After leaving Bayern Munich for Real Madrid, the man from Greifswald, East Germany said that he was open to a move to the Stamford Bridge.
“Madrid, Bayern, Barcelona and Chelsea are the four biggest clubs at the moment, so I would only have swapped one for another.” Kroos said, as reported by Daily Star.

Meanwhile, former Manchester United manager David Moyes has recently revealed that he struck a deal with Kroos a couple of years back.
“Toni Kroos was agreed to come in the summer. I had agreed it with Toni himself and his agent.” The Sunderland manager said.
