American midfielder Christian Pulisic scored his first-ever Bundesliga goal in Borussia Dortmund’s 3-0 win over Hamburg on Sunday. The 17-year-old USMNT sensation was just making his second league start but showed why he’s one of the best wonderkids in football today.
“I am just happy. It’s a great feeling to have scored my first competitive goal. It’s just outstanding. We played a short corner. Mats [Hummels] sets me up perfectly. And I strike inside the near post” Pulisic said via ESPN.
Pulisic became the fourth-youngest and the youngest non-German scorer in Bundesliga history. He was playing his 10th appearance for Dortmund in all competitions after getting called up to the senior team by BVB coach Thomas Tuchel during the winter break.
“It’s unbelievable. I am lost for words, can’t really explain it,” he added.

The win for The Black and Yellows is a good way to bounce back after a shocking and heartbreaking loss against Liverpool. They lost to former manager Jurgen Klopp’s new club on Thursday in the Europa League quarterfinals.
The next fixture for Dortmund is against Hertha Berin in the semifinals of the DFB-Pokal. If BVB gets into the finals, they have a chance to lift a trophy in this year’s campaign.
However, Christian Pulisic is uncertain about his chances of playing in the game but he remains optimistic about his playing time.
“We’ve got many good players, I can’t make any claims. I am just happy about every minute I can be on the pitch,” he said.
Yahoo! Sports noted that Christian Pulisic made his senior debut for the USMNT last month in the World Cup qualifying home win against Guatemala. If he continues his fine form in Germany, it’s almost certain that he will play a bigger role for the national side when the United States hosts the Copa America Centenario this coming June.
