Chuck Liddell to the rescue ladies and gentleman!
The UFC Hall of Famer was considered as the fiercest striker during his UFC days.
So when a person like him says that he will be happy to train former bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, ofcourse it becomes breaking news.
Yes, that’s true. In an exclusive interview to TMZ, Chuck said that he will train Ronda if she wants.
“I’ll train her any time she wants,” Liddell told TMZ.
Chuck who is in San Francisco this week was spotted by TMZ partying for Super Bowl 50. He was asked about the criticism Rousey’s trainer Edmond Tarverdyan has received from her mother AnnMaria De Mars.
De Mars called Tarverdyan a “fraud” and questioned his teachings and preparations regarding Ronda’s training ahead of the Holm fight last November.
Rousey suffered the first defeat of her MMA career to Holly Holm at UFC 193. Holm sent Rousey spiralling down the mat with a powerful head kick. Rousey even suffered criticisms regarding her loss.
De Mars said that Rousey’s rematch with the same coach would end the same way as their first fight.
Liddell doesn’t seem to disagree either.
“Is it the guy that told her she could out strike Holly Holm?” Liddell said when asked by TMZ.
“Ronda’s striking has greatly improved, he’s done a great job with her striking — but it’s another step when you go against a professional striker,” he added.
Holm is a former boxing champion who transitioned into MMA and has already become the talk of the town by defeating Rousey.
As for the great Chuck Liddell, he already has 12 career knockouts inside the Octagon. Liddell is also well-versed in striking.
Only time will tell if Rousey will stick with Tarverdyan in future or not. Rest assured, she can now atleast boast about having the support of one UFC legend.
