Fans have long been waiting for a Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones rematch. And now the wait is finally over. The long due match between UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones is all set with official announcement coming soon.

FOX Sports reports that the official announcement is expected to come in the “next couple of days”. Dave Sholler, UFC vice president of public relations and athlete marketing, made the announcement on Saturday following FOX UFC Fight Night: Johnson vs. Bader in New Jersey.

“We expect to have an announcement within the next couple of days,” Sholler said reports FOX Sports. Cormier also informed that things are being worked out for the rematch and fans will be elated with the final outcome.

However, tables have turned now. If and when the match happens, Jones will be competing as a challenger while Cormier as the champion. Jones defeated Cormier in their last encounter at UFC 182 in January but Jones’ arrest changed the entire scene. Jones was stripped of the title last April following an arrest and conviction in a hit-and-run case from an auto accident in New Mexico. Eventually, Cormier went on to win the belt in Jones’ absence after defeating Anthony Jackson.

The rematch was initially expected to happen on April 23 at Madison Square Garden in New York but after the court denied permission, the plans had to be altered.

Speculations are also rife that the match might take place at UFC 196 or UFC 197 where lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos will be competing against featherweight champion Conor McGregor. Scheduled to happen on March 5, UFC 196 is already expected to hit huge numbers.

UFC also has big plans for UFC 200 scheduled on July 9 in Las Vegas at the new T-Mobile Arena. So, UFC 200 is also another option where the rematch between Cormier and Jones might take place.
