EXCLUSIVE: Conor McGregor Delays UFC 197 Announcement Because of Money?

By on

Despite our initial reports, it appears that Conor McGregor’s fight with Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 197 on March 5 in Las Vegas, Nevada is anything but official.

However, Globo reports that the UFC 197 official announcement has been delayed because of Conor McGregor who is yet to sign the fight contract and has been demanding more money from the promotion.

According to the report, the UFC was supposed to announce the main and co-main event of the upcoming Pay-Per-View event in March during the Green Bay Packers vs. Washington Redskins halftime last Sunday itself but had to delay it because of McGregor.

The report states that sources close to the fighter revealed that the fight has not yet been made official because “the Irish has not yet signed the fight contract” although he has agreed to it “verbally.”

Bloody Elbow reports that Rafael dos Anjos’ manager Ali Abdel Aziz confirmed that the UFC 197 showdown against McGregor was not official because contracts had not been signed yet.

Aziz took to twitter last night and in reference to McGregor wrote: “guess who #Runningawaychampion” preceded by 45 emojis of chicken.

McGregor’s manage, Audie A. Attar however has denied the report that McGregor is holding up the event for a bigger pay day.
