The Football Association (FA) Cup fifth round draws has been released and Chelsea vs. Manchester City looks to be the top draw of the round. The Blues welcome The Citizens at Stamford Bridge.
League One side Shrewsbury Town are the lowest ranked team remaining in the competition and they will host giants Manchester United at New Meadow.
This will be the first time when Manchester United will face Shrewsbury in a competitive fixture. The both sides faced each other in a friendly match in 2000 when Sir Alex Ferguson’s side won 8-1.
Shrewsbury showed amazing character to come from behind twice against Championship side Sheffield Wednesday at home to set up their dream fixture against Manchester United.
The fifth round matches will be played between 19-22 February.
The other matches of the tournament will see Watford taking on Leeds United. Reading will face the winner of the tie between West Bromwich Albion and Peterborough United and Blackburn rovers will host the winners between Liverpool and West Ham United.
The main attraction of the fifth round will be the clash of the two recent Premier League Champions, Chelsea and Man City. Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has tagged the tie as a “huge game”, as reported by BBC.
“It’s already a final” Hiddink stated.
Meanwhile, Man City will be cursing their luck as this is the third consecutive away draw for the Manuel Pellegrini coached side.
Arsenal and Hull City will meet each other in the FA Cup for the third year running with the Gunners eliminating the Tigers with a 2-0 win last year.
