The new queen of MMA, Holly Holm, has been on a media run recently. Bumping to New York Times, she said that she was impressed by Ronda Rousey and defended herself on Chael Sonnen’s comments that she is just all hype.
In an interview, Holm was asked that if Rousey and her would fight ten times – how many would she win?
“Ten,” Holm replied confidently.
“Because if I tell myself that there is one that I might not get, then I’ll be vulnerable. I also know that I’m beatable, so I’m going to train twice as hard. She’s going to come back. She’s mad that it’s not her title anymore. I’ve got to be twice as ready as last time.”
Rousey, who is out for 6 months, has been widely scrutinized by media for her defeat against Holm. But as fellow UFC fighter, Chael Sonnen said that the Ronda-hype was made purely by the media by making her look invulnerable and unbeatable.
Holm was quick to defend Rousey on Sonnen’s comments.
“I think she was really able to run though people, though. She was kind of able to run through the girls in the division, but yes, everybody is beatable. I knew that. I’m not as bold as Chael to go out and say that. There was media around her but she was able to go in and take care of these girls so I hate to say that she’s all hype. That’s not what it is.”
With Holm welcoming the rematch against Rousey, it is not yet clear when the fight will happen. There had been rumors that Holm would be facing #1 title contender, Meisha Tate before facing Rousey after she recovers from her injuries. On the other hand, some advised that Rousey take a year and a fight prior to facing Holly Holm.
