LeSean McCoy, running back for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League (NFL) is being investigated over a nightclub brawl in Philadelphia, early Sunday. The action left two off-duty cops injured, one with a possible skull fracture and the other with a broken nose and broken ribs.
The incident was the result of an argument which broke out between LeSean McCoy and the officers because of a bottle of champagne, according to The Associated Press.
The 40-year-old officer was forced to the ground and was kicked, punched and stomped several times on his head. This led to the interference of the second officer along with the security guards.
The officer who suffered a broken nose and fractured ribs was hospitalized while the one with a possible skull fracture received stitches.
“Certainly over a bottle of champagne, nothing warrants an assault like this.” Police Lt. John Stanford stated.
One of the witnesses to the scene confirmed LeSean McCoy as one of the four men involved in the situation. However, the witness asked for anonymity since they were barred from public discussion about the case.
Drew Rosenhaus, LeSean McCoy’s agent denied commenting on the matter including his present employers Bills. McCoy played for the Bills last season after being traded from Philadelphia Eagles where he featured for six seasons.
It’s still unknown what future lies ahead for the 27-year-old in the NFL.
The Police have denied to publicly identify the four suspects until a warrant for their arrest was released. However, they have stated that one of the suspects has a NFL connection.
Police are looking into the video surveillance outside the club as well as seeking any cellphone video which may have been shot by the patrons inside.
