La Liga club FC Barcelona’s superstar Lionel Messi has refused to rule out of a move from the Catalan giants. However, the Argentinean has insisted that he will never play for any other European club.
The 28-year-old forward won his fifth Ballon d’Or title last week beating Barcelona teammate Neymar and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I have always said that Barcelona is my home and that I want to retire at this club, but I was talking about my European career there.” Messi said to France Football magazine.
Messi has stressed on the fact that he would love to return to Argentina to finish off his football career, the reason for it being his departure from the country at a young age.
The declaration will come as a huge relief for Barcelona supporters. There were strong reports of the Argentinian being linked with English Premier League (EPL) club Manchester City. With the financial power City possesses, the rumors were starting to take pace.
Messi has looked happy and content throughout his career in Barcelona. With his recent statement, it has been proved that the 28-year-old doesn’t look like a character who would change his allegiance because of money.
Barcelona has won five trophies in the year 2015. The team they have set up utilizes Messi’s talent completely. The Catalan giants possess Neymar and Suarez, who are considered to be the best attacking footballers in the world at present.
Messi can achieve much more playing for Barcelona in the future than any other club, considering the strong team he has around him.
Meanwhile, Messi has also suggested that his teammate Neymar is capable of winning a Ballon d’Or in the future.
“I think Neymar will one day win the Ballon d’Or because he has all the qualities required and because he’s a top-class player. He’ll be whatever he wants to be. Everything is open for him.” Messi said.
Messi has been injured for the majority of Barcelona’s La Liga campaign this season and Neymar has taken the responsibility of carrying the Catalan giants.
Neymar has scored 16 goals in 17 appearances in La Liga already this season and looks to add more to his collection.
