English Premier League (EPL) club Manchester United may bring back Sir Alex Ferguson if they sack their current manager Louis Van Gaal.
Ferguson retired from management in 2013. However, the United legend does not wish to return to the dugout. He will only return to help out and prepare Ryan Giggs, if the former United midfielder was given the task of handling the team for the rest of the season, according to The People.
Van Gaal has been under constant threats of losing his job over United’s poor performance in recent games. There has also been criticism regarding the nature of football the Red Devils are playing. If the Dutchman was given marching orders, Giggs is tipped highly to take over.
After his retirement, Ferguson has been an Old Trafford regular. He is seen in the director’s box during United’s home games and is expected to stay there even if he decides to guide Giggs.
Meanwhile, Van Gaal has blocked deserted goalkeeper Victor Valdes’ loan move to Newcastle United.
The former-Barcelona goalkeeper has been exiled from duty after getting into a spat with Van Gaal. Valdes has been training on his own since the start of the Premier League season.
Newcastle United’s first team goalkeeper Tim Krul has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee-injury. The Dutch goalkeeper suffered the injury on national duty in Kazakhstan. Rob Elliot currently serves as the Newcastle No. 1 and the Magpies were looking into Valdes to add depth to their goalkeeping line-up.
However, Van Gaal doesn’t want Valdes to sign for another Premier League club. Hence, the Dutchman has blocked the transfer of the Spanish goalkeeper to Newcastle, according to Daily Mirror.
Finally, Andreas Pereira does not want a loan away from Manchester United and have reportedly decided to fight for his place at Old Trafford, according to Goal.com.
The 20-year-old Brazilian has been offered only two starts by Van Gaal and the midfielder seems to be frustrated at the lack of footballing opportunities. However, the Brazil under-20 international wants to stay at United and give his all to get a starting spot in the Red Devils line-up.
“Of course you want to play every game, but I have been on the bench. We will see what happens.” Pereira said to Goal.com.
