Champion vs. champion.
ONE Champion recently announced an epic featherweight showdown as it makes its way back to China with titleholder Narantungalag Jadamba squaring off against interim champion Mara Gafurov in a championship unification bout on November 21 at “ONE Championship 35”.
To be held at The Gymnasium of the National Olympic Sports Center in Beijing, the fight will be between two of the toughest and celebrated MMA fighters today.
Jadamba, who hails from Mongolia, currently holds a 10-3 win-loss record, currently remains undefeated inside the ONE Championship cage. He defeated former champion Honorio Banario in his ONE debut and then followed it up with a win over Koji Oishio to snatch the title in August 2014.
The 39-year-old fighter was originally tasked to defend his championship belt against Gafurov at ONE Championship 31, but travel issues resulted to his removal from the fight card and Gafurov instead faced Martin Nguyen for the interim title.
Now, Jadamba, after a 15-month layoff, will test his mettle against the 30-year-old Gafurov from Russia.
Also known as “Cobra,” Gafurov totes a 12-0 fight record, 3-0 overall under the ONE Championship banner. He delivered impressive first-round choke victories over Rob Lisita and Ev Ting. He will soon put his clean slate on the line versus Jadamba.
“ONE Championship 35” will be the third time the promotion will hold an event in mainland China. The main card will stream on online pay-per-view.
Other details and additional bouts will be announced by ONE Championship in the coming weeks.
