A deadline of 12nn of December 28, 2915 has been given for Barangay Ginebra to file a protest against the referee’s no-call on Globalport Batang Pier’s Stanley Pringle on holding the ball for more than 5-seconds during overtime.
The Philippine Basketball Association released a statement through Twitter and Facebook account saying that they were still waiting for the protest to become official but also added that they have summoned the four referees – namely Edward Aquino, Rommell Gruta, Mardy Montoya and Bing Oliva – who were officiating the game for a meeting with the PBA Commissioner, Chito Narvasa.
On the FB and Twitter page posted:
From the Office of the Commissioner:
As far as the PBA is concerned, the game has already been concluded unless we receive any protest from Bgy. Ginebra San Miguel before 12 noon today. Regarding the officiating and to be fair, we have scheduled a hearing for the four referees tomorrow – Dec 29 to determine their performance. After that we shall come out with our official action on them.
With the deadline lapses, Ginebra was not able to pass a formal protest and that will make Globalport’s victory official.
Globalport Batang Pier will be facing the Alaska Aces on Janaury 4, 2016 to start their best-of-seven semi-finals series.
