English Premier League (EPL) club Manchester City looks to dominate the Premier League table as they set their sights on signing Southampton’s Sadio Mane ahead of rivals Manchester United.
The 23-year-old Mane is valued at £25million (US $36 million) and is heavily linked with a move to 20-time Premier League champions Manchester United in the coming summer.
Txiki Begiristain, director of City has stated of his interest to bring in the Senegal international to the Etihad Stadium, according to The Sun.
Begiristain considers Mane to be a type of player whom incoming manager Pep Guardiola would require before starting his authority over the Premier League table.
Throughout his managerial career Guardiola has shown a keen interest to versatile players. Mane has featured as a winger, striker and No. 10 for Southampton and is as versatile as anyone can expect.
Guardiola is expected to replicate his domination over the Premier League table like he did at Germany with Bayern Munich by having Arjen Robben feature on the wings.
Mane will look for a weekly wage of £125,000 (US $180,000) if he decides to leave St. Mary’s for a bigger club. Sources close to Mane have stated that the Senegalese want a Premier League big club to be his next destination.
United, Chelsea or City are deemed to be his preferred choice of transfer. Mane has been a huge impact at Southampton since his move from Red Bull Salzburg for £11.8 million (US $17 million).
Mane has scored three goals in the Premier League this season, creating 30 chances and six assists. He has a pass accuracy of 82%, according to Squawka.
Southampton currently lies 7th in the Premier League Table and Mane has been a huge factor to their good league position.
