National Basketball Association (NBA) great Stephen Curry’s game is similar to that of Carolina Panther’s quarterback Cam Newton, according to Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller.
“When you’ve got a guy that’s trying to score on you every single time, it’s kind of like Steph Curry.” Miller said on Newton, as reported by USA Today.
Steph Curry won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award last season with the Golden State Warriors. He is currently leading the league with 29.8 points in a game this season.
Cam Newton is similarly favored to win the National Football League (NFL) MVP award and go on to win the Super Bowl with the Carolina Panthers. Miller will be Newton’s opponent playing for the Denver Broncos.
It has to be noted that Steph Curry originates from Charlotte, North Carolina. Hence, the Panthers are his favorite team and Cam Newton is his favorite player.
Before the Super Bowl 50 this Sunday, Miller was asked several questions regarding the game which included the comparison of Newton with New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady. The Denver Broncos defeated the Patriots (20-18) away from home in the AFC Championship Game.
“Tom Brady, he’s so sharp and quick, and Cam can be that as well. But their style of offense of getting it down the field, pushing it down the field, trying to put as many points on the board. That’s why some of the decisions that he makes with the ball are just a little slower than Tom Brady’s.” Miller said.
Newton and Miller were the first two players to be drafted in the 2011 NFL Draft. Both the players admire each other however that will be put to the side on Sunday.
