Headbutts and soccer go hand in hand and Saturday’s friendly match between Boca Juniors and River Plate was no different.
Carlos Tevez could hardly control his unruly players with three of his players given red cards. In total, the match saw five red cards and nine yellows in this highly physical contest.
River Plate won the match, 1-0 but not before giving a tough fight to their bitter archrivals.
The cherry on the cake was of course the headbutt by Jonathan Maidana, who was sent off from the field for headbutting Tevez and Pisculichi followed for his involvement in the ensuing melee.
The incident soon turned into a massive brawl as more than 40 people got involved.

Two Boca players were also sent off in their previous friendly against Racing, and Tevez was annoyed that their preparations for the new season are being hampered by a lack of discipline.
Four Four Two reports Tevez saying, “We made mistakes and we paid [for them]. We have to be self-critical, we cannot make these mistakes. We have to control ourselves.”
“In four days, five dismissals. You cannot make a footballing analysis. It does not deserve to be looked at in footballing terms in any way.”
