It seems that it really is the season of festivities and LA Lakers have taken the tradition of giving gifts to a whole new level.
During the first quarter of Lakers’ Christmas game against crosstown rivals the LA Clippers – Lakers’ Larry Nance Jr. gave a very unique scoring punch to the Clippers and that even left the opposing team a Christmas present and that left his Lakers’ teammates in astonishment.
Larry Nance Jr. went up to grab a defensive rebound near the free throw line but somehow accidentally tipped the ball back into the net.
The moment he swishes the ball, there is celebration in Clippers’ side but his team mates just stood there, frozen unable to believe on what just happened.
What’s even more astonishing is that Nance didn’t even have to fight for the ball. It sort of just landed on him, as if the ball was waiting for Nance to push it into the basket. The ball just bounced right to him and yet he still managed to screw it up.
The incident is a reminder that at times it simply pays if you are in the right place at the right time. The Clippers are of course are having the last laugh. Had Nance not pushed the ball in his own basket then probably the team’s morale would not have shattered and who knows probably they would have won, for they got defeated by Clippers 94-84 to end a three game skid.
Clippers’ Chris Paul scored 23 points to give his team the major haul.
Lakers’ Kobe Bryant scored 12 points in his league-record 16th and final Christmas Day game. He played for 26 minutes and sat out the entire fourth quarter.
Bryant announced on Nov. 29 that he will retire after this season, his 20th in the NBA. He has a record 395 points on Christmas Day.
