Android 7.0 Nougat Update: List of phones that will get the latest firmware update

Android device owners have been eagerly anticipating if their phones are among those who are getting the Android Nougat 7.0 update since the recent release of the latest firmware boasts of a more stable and more polished experience.

Google’s latest Android version and the rumored Android Nougat 7.1 update will first hit its recently released flagship phones, Pixel and Pixel XL, but reports are coming in that other android devices are also getting the latest OS update.

A list has been made based on these reports as to which smartphones are getting the OS update:


As mentioned before, Google’s Nexus always get the Android updates first and this time it will be no different with its latest flagship phones. Except for the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X, which have been reported to have problems after updating Nougat 7.0, the rest are good to go.

According to gizmo times, although Samsung has a reputation for following at a slower pace, its flagship phones are ultimately getting the Nougat 7.0 update sometime in the first quarter of 2017.

Before the sale and manufacture of Galaxy Note 7 were halted, Samsung has already included the phablet that would receive the OS update early on. The list now includes:

  • Samsung Galaxy S7
  • Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
  • Samsung Galaxy S6
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 5
  • Samsung Galaxy A5 (Not confirmed but likely to get)

  • Samsung Galaxy A8 (Not confirmed but likely to get)
  • Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro (Not confirmed but likely to get)
  • Samsung Galaxy A3 (Not confirmed but likely to get)

Neuro Gadget reports that the possible release of the latest OS update on LG’s smartphones will be on December 2016 if the company were to follow the trend of releasing its updates. While the highly anticipated LG V20 is confirmed to be powered by Android 7.0 Nougat, the G5 is expected to get the OS update as well.

Motorola has the longest list of devices to get the Android 7.0 Nougat according to tech times. Its newest offerings the Moto G and Moto E3 Power are reportedly not getting the update as they are rumored to head straight for an Android 7.1 update. However, the rest are expected to go full blast this month.

Sony has released a list of its devices that are getting the latest OS update although there is no mention of its release date but it is expected that the company will update in batches. However, a roadmap was apparently leaked in September according to a report.

  • Xperia X Performance – October
  • Xperia XZ – October
  • Xperia X – November
  • Xperia X Compact – November
  • Xperia Ultra – early 2017
  • Xperia XA – early 2017
  • Xperia Z4 Tablet – December
  • Xperia Z3+ – December

HTC Bolt is expected to be the first HTC device to operate on the latest OS per IBTimes. The following are expected to get the update on December 2016:

  • HTC One A9
  • HTC One M9
  • HTC One M10
  • HTC 10


According to a report from tech times, OnePlus 3 may receive the OS update in the first quarter of 2017 at the latest and OnePlus 2 may follow a couple of months later.
