Though many had written off the iPad Mini 5 as being dumped in favor of the iPad Pro series, latest reports say that its release remains on track. In fact, they have also stated a slated release date that of March 2017. The specifications are said to be akin to those of the iPad Pro 2.
Ming Chi-Kuo, an analyst from KGI has opined that the iPad Mini 5 will grace the shelves in the early or beginning of 2017, according to MacWorld. Experts also speculate that it would be thinner and will also perhaps be the last of its kind before being assimilated into the iPad Pro 2 line of tablets. So, it is expected that Apple will make the device something very special and unique.
Speculations are also rife that the iPad Mini 5 will have an A10 processor. Memory is stated to be 2GB of RAM. Storage will remain in the usual range of 16GB to 128GB a feature that is dependent on the particular variant of the model you choose for yourself.
Some are also of the opinion that Apple might abandon the 3.5 mm jack altogether like it has done in its iPhone 7 range of smartphones. The aluminum chassis is supposed to belong to the 7000-series which will result in making the tablet slimmer as well.
According to PC Advisor, other features of the iPad Mini 5 may include NFC, a 3D touch system, IP68 security, USB-C ports. The specifications of the camera, however, remain an area of doubt and are likely to be akin to the Mini 4.
The display is expected not to change too much from the Mini 4 and would likely remain the same screen of 7.9 inches. iOS 11 is set to be released in 2017, so the tablet may very well sport this latest offering by Apple.
