Tennis News: Rafael Nadal advances to semifinals, the saga continues

Rafael Nadal of Spain advanced to the semifinal round after winning its quarterfinal round match in the Men’s Singles Tennis tournament of the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The world ranked number five lost the first set, but managed to win the match by taking the next two set in an impressive way. Nadal defeated Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil in three electrifying sets by the score of 2-6, 6-4 and 6-2.

Spain’s flag bearer survived Bellucci’s smart tactics and able to win the match despite having 25 unforced errors and 24 forced errors. Nadal also got 2 aces throughout the match.

Thomaz Bellucci also committed 26 unforced errors and 23 forced errors that also helped Nadal in taking this match.

The 14-time Grand slam champion and one of the Greatest Players of All Time (GOAT), Rafael Nadal, defeated Federico Delbonis in the first round, Andreas Seppi in the second round and Gilles Simon in the third round.

The saga continues for Rafael Nadal as he carries on the journey to achieving another heroic victory in this Olympic game. Nadal joins his biggest contender Andy Murray of Great Britain in the semifinal round of the tournament.

Nadal has been battling with a left wrist injury throughout the tournament. The left wrist injury that forced him out of the French Open and Wimbledon.

This will be the last Olympic tournament, Nadal will attend before retiring that is why he is well motivated and very determined in achieving another Olympic gold medal after being victorious in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Meanwhile, Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina defeated Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain in straight sets by the score of 7-5 and 7-6 (4).

Rafael Nadal and Juan Martin Del Potro will face in an epic semifinal match on Sunday, August 14, 2016. The winner will face the winner in the other semifinal game between Andy Murray and Kei Nishikori in the gold medal game of the tournament.
