Marcus Willis is the latest inspiration at Wimbledon 2016. The British qualifier has captured the hearts of the fans after his first round win in the Grand Slam in London. Though his Cinderella journey ended today, at the hands of former World No. 1 Roger Federer, his inspiring story remains.

The recently concluded match between ranked no. 3 Roger Federer and no. 772 in world rankings became a massive talk. In fact, it was acknowledged as a “Hollywood gold.” Federer admitted the match was entirely different from the rest of the events.

“It sometimes occurs in the wild cards and so forth … this is the first of this level. This match is different. It’s picked up on momentum. People will hear about it. People will know about it,” Federer said.

Federer beat Willis, 6-0 6-3 6-4 to end Willis surprising run at Wimbledon 2016.

“Naturally, they’re gonna support him because it’s a very cool story myself. So, it’s gonna be interesting that I love to see,” Federer added.

Marcus Willis revealed that before he stepped on the green grass of Wimbledon 2016 qualifiers, he struggled a lot. He lost a lot of confidence, he became overweight, he didn’t have a healthy lifestyle, so on.

Without Jennifer Bate, his girlfriend, he won’t be able to realize his Wimbledon 2016 dream. He might have given up the possibility of wining an event and have left everything to America and started a new life.

“I had the options in Philadelphia. Nothing was dead set. But, yeah, it was an option I had. Don’t know if I would have gone or not. But, yeah, I met the girl. She told me not to, so I didn’t. Do what I’m told,” Marcus Willis told ESPN.

“It’s an amazing dream come true. I get to play on a stadium court. This is what I dreamed when I was younger.”

He knew he will lose against the world No. 3-ranked Roger Federer. But he still did his best and gave everything in the match.
