The Philippines already clinched the Jones Cup 2016 championship when they won against Iran.

But the Philippines are not contented with just winning the title. They continued their momentum by beating Egypt, 80-61. And now, they swept the entire tournament by dealing Chinese Taipei B a 104-80 thrashing defeat.

In the last game against Taipei B, the team was led in scoring by imports Dewarick Spencer and Mike Singletary. Spencer had 27 points and nine rebounds, while Singletary had 21 points and seven rebounds.

However, the player who consistently led the Philippines in points was not that effective in the game. This player is Al Thornton who just tallied 13 points. His lackluster game can be an excused as the Philippine team still won the entire tournament.

The import-laden team was also paced with the 12 points, eight rebounds and four blocks by Hamady N’diaye.

This Philippine team who was backed by the Mighty Sports Local Club in the Philippines have started their last game on fire. It happened when the team surged to a 30-16 lead in the first quarter in which the Chinese squad did not recover.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Taipei squad was led by the 16 points and 18 rebounds of their own import, John Florveus. This young American player is really talented and might be included in the future senior national team of Taipei if he ever gets naturalized to play for the country. The team also got 18 points from their local player Chien You-Che.

The Philippines is now tied with Iran in the number of gold medals in the history of the tournament at five.
