Kenny Omega is one of the top foreign stars of New Japan Pro Wrestling. He is also one of the best wrestlers in the world at the moment and the WWE will always have an interest in him. However, Omega said in a recent interview that he might not sign with the WWE anytime soon.
Kenny Omega not interested in WWE
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Omega revealed that he has on open invitation to join NXT when his contract with NJPW expires. However, he told SI that is not interested in signing with WWE at the moment and he might never join them.
“I would rather be the legend that never stepped foot in WWE but was better than every single one of them and did something that none of those guys could do in their prime or could ever do if they left WWE and tried,” Omega said.
“I’m pushing the barrier every single day. I’ll take all my matches against WWE’s best matches, I’ll put it up against Ring of Honor’s best matches, or whatever promotion you want, and I guarantee people will be more entertained with my matches than theirs,” he added.
Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega gets 6-star rating
At NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom XI, Omega faced off against IWGP Heavyweight champion, Kazuchika Okada. In what might be the Match of the Year already, the two stars put in a magnificent match that some fans are calling the greatest ever.
Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling News Observer rated it as a 6-star match, per Reddit. It was the only second 6-star match in history. The other 6-star match Meltzer rated was an untelevised battle between Ricky Steamboat and Ric Flair.
‘The Cleaner’ NJPW contract expiring
According to Sportskeeda, Omega’s contract with NJPW will expire sometime in early 2017. The WWE is clearly interested in “The Cleaner” as Triple H has reportedly offered him a deal three times. However, Omega has turned it down every time.
