Stephanie McMahon is the WWE’s Chief Brand Officer, as well as an on-air talent for Monday Night Raw. She is one of the most powerful women in the business world and she had some advice for brands on how to win the heart of their fans.
Stephanie McMahon on the secret of the WWE
“We have a very passionate fan base. Our fans are part of our show. It’s really more akin to performance art—no different than Shakespeare, opera, or ballet. There’s a protagonist, an antagonist, conflicts, and storytelling,” Stephanie said during the Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Next Gen Summit.
The fourth-generation wrestling promoter added that takings risks and telling compelling stories are the secret to a successful fan base. She said that many brands can learn from the WWE since every company has to make people care about their product.
Update on Stephanie McMahon’s memoir
The 40-year-old WWE executive is set to publish a memoir but it has been delayed until 2020, per Wrestling News Source. She revealed during the summit that it will be more of a McMahon Family book rather than her memoir. She added that it has a lot of stories about her father, Vince McMahon.
“I’m personally reassessing. It was originally supposed to be a memoir. But as the first book from my family, it needed to be so much more. They went through so much to grow the business,” Stephanie said.
Why did Stephanie McMahon miss this week’s Raw?
On the other hand, fans might have missed it but Stephanie was absent on Monday Night Raw. According to Wrestling Inc, Stephanie was not in Charlotte on Monday because she was in China. She attended the LeSports Connect conference along with other CEOs like Jasper Donat of Branded.
