The year started off with Edge winning the WWE championship for the very first time. He defended the title for the first time against Ric Flair in a TLC Match. It was a very entertaining match even though Flair had been already a 56-year-old wrestler.
The storytelling in the match was incredible with Flair showing heart and determination to give Edge a real challenge. However, Lita’s involvement was too much as The Rated R Superstar retained the WWE title.
The match was filled with great spots like Flair bleeding, Edge hitting a splash through a table and Lita receiving a Figure 4 Leg Lock. The Nature Boy also did a huge bump when he got superplexed off the top of a ladder.
9. CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. The Miz in a Triple Threat TLC Match for the WWE Championship (TLC 2011)
Hey, it’s CM Punk in the WWE. The Straightedge Superstar just won the WWE championship at Survivor Series. However, he had to defend the title in a Triple Threat TLC Match against Alberto Del Rio and The Miz.
Many fans at that time doubted The Miz’s involvement in the match. But The Awesome One proved them wrong as he stole the show. The match had a lot of crazy bumps, but CM Punk was able to withstand everything, including being handcuffed to retain the WWE title.
It was one of many title defenses for the now winless MMA fighter during his reign. The TLC Match in 2011 has been just the start of his 434-day reign as champion.
8. The Undertaker vs. Edge in a Singles TLC Match for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship (One Night Stand 2008)

It was a war between two rivals with Hardy doing his usual stuff during TLC matches. Punk punished Hardy as it was the first time that he was playing a heel character.

This match is high on this list because it is the debut match of The Shield. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns put on a great performance in their first match ever on the main roster.
It helped that they were against Kane, Daniel Bryan and Ryback. The match had no titles on the line so it was just to punish each other. Rollins took a nasty bump in the entrance ramp when Ryback pushed him off a ladder and onto a stack of tables.
The significance of this match is really high as it cemented the future of the WWE. Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns are three of the pillars of the company. Without this match, The Shield might not become the greatest stable of the past ten years.

Spike was able to hit a Dudley Dog on Christian onto a table while Lita received a 3D from Bubba Ray and D-Von. Rhyno gored his way in the match and helped Edge and Christian retrieve the tag team titles.
The highlight of the match, and possibly the greatest sport in TLC history, was when Edge speared Jeff Hardy while he was hanging from the ceiling. It was a 20-foot drop the left the audience stunned in disbelief.
