On the latest episode of Monday Night RAW, Mick Foley was fired by Stephanie McMahon. However, the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) universe may not have seen the last of the 51-year-old yet, and a Mick Foley return is extremely likely.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio recently revealed that there is a possibility of Mick Foley return happening. The WWE Hall of Famer could be seen interfering in the unsanctioned bout between Seth Rollins and Triple H at WrestleMania 33. Meltzer has predicted that the former WWE World Champion will aid Rollins in a victory over the company’s Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative.
“There is a possibility that Foley does a run in at WrestleMania, because his [hip replacement] surgery isn’t before WrestleMania. So there is a possibility. But the only thing that would be is Foley would help Seth Rollins beat Triple H,” Meltzer was quoted as saying, as reported by Sportskeeda.
What led to the current event?
On the Monday Night RAW episode on March 13, Stephanie McMahon demanded Mick Foley to fire a superstar on the Raw roster before the end of the night. However, Cactus Jack continuously tried to convince Stephanie otherwise. But, Vince McMahon’s daughter wanted Mick to be able to take tough decisions.
When the time came for Foley to make the announcement, the 6-ft-2 former professional wrestler mentioned that he has decided to fire Stephanie McMahon herself. This did not go down well with her husband Triple H, who made an entrance following the announcement.
Triple H berated Foley and went on to threaten the position of his children, Noelle and Dewey. Mick reacted as if he was going to leave the ring but stopped at the corner. When the Cerebral Assassin approached him, the man from Bloomington, Indiana rammed Mr. Socko down the throat of the 47-year-old.
Stephanie interfered by delivering a low blow to Foley. When it looked like Triple H was about to take over, Seth Rollins made an appearance. The focus was shifted to both Rollins and Triple H sharing blows.
On the latest episode of RAW, Mick Foley started the night by reading a prepared statement. However, he was fired by Stephanie McMahon. When Foley was leaving the building, the last person he interacted was Triple H, who mocked the wrestling legend on his way out.
What could happen?
Seth Rollins is recovering from a knee injury. Hence, his participation in WrestleMania 33 is always a doubt.
The Rollins vs. Triple H match will always have smoke and mirrors associated with it because of the former’s health condition. If the 30-year-old is unable to recover in time for WWE’s biggest pay-per-view (PPV) of the year, Mick Foley could be the man to replace him in the ring.
