World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) could be set to see the return of its former star Carlito. The Puerto Rican wrestler started his career with the wrestling promotion and hopes to end it over there as well. Carlito is the son of former Puerto Rican wrestling legend and WWE Hall of Famer Carlos Colon.
“It’s not up to me; I guess the ball is in their court. That’s where I started, that’s where I made my career and I haven’t gone anywhere else so far” Carlito said to The Hannibal TV. The 37-year-old also mentioned that he would love his return to be under the “right circumstances”.
Following his WWE release in 2010, Carlito worked for many independent wrestling promotions but has not featured in any high-level company. A decade has passed since Colon made his debut in the WWE ring. He was mainly used as a mid-card wrestler in the company and feuded with the likes of John Cena and Shelton Benjamin.
If one looks at Carlito as a sports entertainer, he can be considered as the one in between. He was neither a super-athlete in the ring, nor was he an excellent speaker on the mike. However, the lad had charisma which took him only as far as the WWE Intercontinental and Tag Team titles.
However, with WWE suffering through a creative rut, inclusion of Carlito could add a healthy boost to the product. He could be brought in to elevate a few of the wrestlers within the current roster.
One could estimate looking at the interview that there have been talks between Carlito and WWE. With TRP’s taking constant hits, the company could surely use some ‘face-spitting’ to spicen up its offering towards the audience.
