The Undertaker returned on the 900th episode of SmackDown Live. He announced that he is back and everyone expected him to appear on a regular basis. However, he has not appeared since his return last November 15.
Why is The Undertaker absent on television?
According to a recent report from Ringside News, the WWE is intentionally keeping The Undertaker off of television. The company feels like there is so much time between December and the Royal Rumble 2017 which makes The Undertaker’s appearance less exciting.
However, fans should expect The Undertaker to return on television at the start of the year. Monday Night Raw already scheduled Bill Goldberg and Brock Lesnar for their first show of 2017. Expect SmackDown to follow it up with an appearance from The Deadman.
Is The Deadman cleared of his injury?
The Undertaker underwent hip surgery a couple of months ago. It is to extend his career further than WrestleMania 33 and beyond. Many wrestling people backstage believe the 51-year-old superstar will continue to wrestle for years to come.
But as for his current injury, there are no reports confirming if the WWE has cleared him from his injury. He appeared alright during his return on SmackDown Live as he was not limping during his entrance. However, there are still no concrete plans for him heading into 2017.
What are the plans for The Phenom?
One of the rumored plans for The Undertaker is a match with A.J. Styles at the 2017 Royal Rumble. It will be for the WWE world championship but more importantly, it helps sell out the event in San Antonio, Texas. Another plan for The Deadman is a dream match against John Cena at WrestleMania 33.
