The Shining Stars finally made their debut on the May 16 episode of Monday Night Raw but they barely got a reaction from the crowd. The team of Primo and Epico has not wrestled a match since and the latest WWE rumors suggest that Vince McMahon already soured on their new gimmick.

According to Cageside Seats, top WWE officials have no more plans for The Shining Stars because of the reaction they got on their debut. They defeated the team of Scott Jackson and Brian Kennedy, who were just local wrestlers used as enhancement talent.

Nonetheless, the WWE keeps airing vignettes of Primo and Epico promoting their hometown of Puerto Rico. In the latest video, they talked about the healing powers of the hibiscus flower but that kind of gimmick will not work on television.

The real-life Colon cousins look unconvincing in their new characters. It is their third gimmick change ever since teaming together in 2011. They were first known as simply Primo & Epico and then they became Los Matadores before coming up with The Shining Stars gimmick.

In a report by VAVEL, a return by former WWE superstar Carlito is what the Puerto Rican team needs. Carlito possesses charisma more than his brother and cousin combined, and he will instantly get a reaction from the crowd.

The 37-year-old can work effectively both as a face and as a heel but his best asset is his original character, Carlito Carribean Cool. He can take The Shining Stars gimmick to the next level by just being part of it.

Carlito received a huge pop from the WWE universe in 2014 when he inducted his dad, Carlos Colon, into the WWE Hall of Fame. He has also expressed his interest in going back to the WWE but he mentioned in an interview that it all comes down to the money offered.

“I am in the best shape of my life right now. I still got a couple of years left and it’s really up to them. The ball is in their court. That’s where I started, that’s where I made my career. I haven’t been anywhere else so far. My plan is to always go back under the right circumstances,” Carlito told Hannibal TV.
