The WWE crowned a lot of first-time champions on the main roster in 2016 like A.J. Styles, Finn Balor, TJ Perkins, Rich Swann, Kalisto, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss. 2017 will also likely crown first-time champions and here the five superstars who will win their first gold on the main roster.
“The Man That Gravity Forgot” is heading into 2017 with a lot of momentum. He has taken over the cruiserweight division and his heel turn was a much-needed boost. He has a win over Rich Swann in a non-title match last week on WWE 205 Live.
Neville will likely win the cruiserweight championship early this year and hold it for a long time in 2017. He then gets a push in the midcards wherein he might end up winning the United States title or even the Intercontinental championship.
Just like Neville, Sami Zayn has a lot of momentum despite his feud with Braun Strowman. He is expected to lose the feud against Strowman but he has built himself as a nice underdog character. He might not win a world title in 2017 but a run with U.S. or IC title is possibly on the cards.
Bayley is in a feud with Charlotte to start of 2017. She might face the champion at the Royal Rumble but the ultimate story is Bayley winning the women’s title at WrestleMania 33. She is the perfect character to beat Charlotte’s undefeated PPV record while also setting a huge heel turn for Sasha Banks down the line.
The WWE is likely high on Nia Jax and she might get pushed later in 2017. She is the perfect monster heel of the women’s division. There is no better way to portray her dominance by giving her a run with the women’s championship.
Enzo Amore & Big Cass
It is not a surprise that the WWE is high on Big Cass. The company won’t rush his push to the top just yet because of the failed Roman Reigns experiment. Cass and Enzo Amore are due for a big tag title win at WrestleMania 33 while also a big singles title win for Big Cass to end the year.
