NXT is the breeding ground for the next generation of WWE superstars. Every year, a handful of NXT stars are called up to the main roster. Here is SportsRageous’ prediction of five NXT stars who will be on the main roster in 2017.
5. Tye Dillinger
The “10” count has slowly taken over the WWE since the Toronto crowd made it popular during Survivor Series week last month. Tye Dillinger has also improved in the ring despite being made to put over stars like Andrade Almas and Bobby Roode in the past several months.
Dillinger has the potential to be a good midcarder and his “10” gimmick being over only helps his cause for a main roster call-up. There are already rumors stating that the “Perfect 10” will make his debut at the Royal Rumble wherein he is going to be the tenth entrant.
4. The Revival
The smash mouth duo of Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder is the best tag team in the WWE at the moment. They are due for a call-up to the main roster for all the hard work they have put together during their reign as NXT tag team champions.
The Revival have shown that the old school style of tag team wrestling is not dead. They have made it work and it is really entertaining. Expect Dash and Dawson to make their main roster debut next year, possibly after WrestleMania 33.
No superstar in the NXT women’s division has defeated Asuka since her debut. She ended the reign of Bayley and she even conquered the mighty Nia Jax. But now that superstars like Ember Moon have arrived, it is now time for Asuka to be called up to the main roster.
Asuka is still a mysterious superstar but she would fit in on either Raw or SmackDown Live. The feuds for both brands heading into the new year is set so “The Empress of Tomorrow” will likely get called up around the next WWE draft.
2. Samoa Joe
Many fans are now expecting Samoa Joe to make his main roster debut at the Royal Rumble. His feud with Shinsuke Nakamura has finally ended and it is now time for him to show everyone on the main roster of what he can do.
Joe was even rumored to be getting called up in November but it seems like it was scrapped at the last minute. Nevertheless, it is safe to say that he will be appearing on the main roster this year, possibly on SmackDown Live.
1. Shinsuke Nakamura
The most popular man on the NXT roster is the current NXT champion, Shinsuke Nakamura. He has amazing charisma and it will surely translate in the main roster. He is set to defend the NXT title against Bobby Roode at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio.
Nakamura will likely retain the title at the event but he could end up losing it at the next NXT event during WrestleMania weekend. It could be his swansong match for the developmental brand before he makes his much-anticipated debut on the main roster
