Shane McMahon was rumored to be facing Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 but that’s obviously not happening thanks to Bill Goldberg. However, the latest WWE rumors imply that Shane will still have a match at WrestleMania 33 and it is going to be against A.J. Styles.

Shane-O-Mac to compete at WrestleMania 33

According to Ringside News, Shane McMahon is still scheduled to have a match at WrestleMania 33. There is still no word on who will his opponent be but many superstars have popped out in the rumor mill including Dean Ambrose.

The report added that the only thing sure at the moment is Shane will wrestle at the Grandest Stage of Them All. It is also expected that a SmackDown superstar is going to be his opponent since the commissioner of the blue brand.

Shane McMahon vs. A.J. Styles?

A.J. Styles is set to face John Cena at the Royal Rumble and defend his WWE championship. A lot of people expect Cena to win the title which leaves Styles without a feud at WrestleMania 33. Of course, plans could still change since Cena is set to go on hiatus after WrestleMania 33.

On the other hand, Pro Wrestling Unlimited reported that A.J. Styles vs. Shane McMahon could happen at WrestleMania 33. It’s a match that many fans might heavily invest in since Styles is full-on heel mode at the moment while Shane is well-loved by the WWE universe.

How to book Styles vs. Shane?

If the WWE goes with A.J. Styles vs. Shane McMahon, they can easily have Styles argue with Shane and Daniel Bryan. It could start after the Royal Rumble when Styles loses his WWE title and blame the authority figures for giving Cena a title shot.

“The Phenomenal One” gets his rematch at Elimination Chamber but loses again. This will lead to Styles snapping and attacking Shane McMahon since Bryan cannot get physical. It sets up a very intriguing match between the best wrestling in the world and an all-time showtime performer.
