The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) creative seems to have much bigger plans for The Hardy Boyz. While they have had great success as a tag team, there is obviously money to be made in allowing them to go their separate ways.

WWE Rumors are beginning to circulate that the team will eventually split. Jeff Hardy will reportedly be jumping into the main event while Matt Hardy becomes Broken. Sources are also suggesting that Jeff may be all set to face the reigning, defending, undisputed WWE Universal champion, Brock Lesnar, in the near future.

The Hardy Boyz quit IMPACT Wrestling earlier this year. They made a surprise return to the WWE at WrestleMania 34. Matt and Jeff Hardy took their return to the next step by becoming the RAW tag team champions. However, it has to be noted that neither Matt nor Jeff has been able to go all out in their usage of the Broken gimmick in WWE. This is owing to a Cease and Desist order issued to them by Impact’s new owners, Anthem Sports and Entertainment.

Vince McMahon not too convinced on Broken gimmick

The WWE management is presently in communication with TNA Impact Wrestling to strike a deal which would allow Matt Hardy to use his “Broken” gimmick again. However, Vince McMahon is not too keen on the Broken gimmick, according to Cageside Seats.

McMahon is more interested in giving Jeff Hardy a main-event push and pitting him against The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar. Lesnar is scheduled to hold the title until WrestleMania 34. Hence, the creative has more than enough time to potentially split the Hardy Boyz and book Jeff in a singles run that will conclude in a collision with The Beast in the near future, as reported by IW Nerd.

The Hardy brothers to be separated on different brands

WWE Rumors suggest that the Hardy brothers won’t only be split up as a team, but they will actually be separated onto different brands. Broken Matt is expected to move to SmackDown Live while Jeff would remain on Monday Night Raw for some big-time feuds.

The Hardy Boyz are set to defend their RAW tag-team titles at WWE’s upcoming Payback pay-per-view (PPV) on April 30th. It also features a match that will determine the No. 1 contender for Lesnar’s Universal title, when Braun Strowman faces off against Roman Reigns.

Having the Hardy Boyz return as a tag team was the right thing to do. It led to an incredible WrestleMania moment. However, splitting them up may benefit them both in the future.
