The WWE are going full force in the upcoming superstar draft for the brand extension this coming July. According to the latest WWE rumors, John Cena and Brock Lesnar are getting drafted to SmackDown to boost the ratings of that show.

As mentioned in a previous report, the WWE is trying to keep Cena and Roman Reigns apart as much as possible. The 15-time champion is reportedly heading to SmackDown while Reigns will be staying on Monday Night Raw.

In the latest report from F4WOnline (h/t Wrestle Zone), the WWE plans to make SmackDown a legitimate brand that could rival Raw. Making Cena the face of the brand can help boost its ratings as he is mainstream personality.

The report also pointed out that the USA Network pushed the WWE to bring back the brand extension because the network was very unhappy with the low ratings of SmackDown. The two parties then decided that going live will solve that problem and having a separate, distinct roster will give the show its own identity.

SmackDown is a taped show that is why there are many spoilers are given away on the internet. Going live is a good strategy since fans will have to tune in more. However, the WWE will need to have good storylines to keep those people hooked on the show.

The Inquisitr noted that Brock Lesnar may also end up getting drafted to SmackDown. The Beast is still an attraction and many fans will tune in when he’s on television. He is one of the legitimate money makers of the company.

Lesnar has not been seen on WWE TV since his win over Dean Ambrose at WreslteMania 32. His next appearance is expected to be before SummerSlam and it will be a very big deal.
