WrestleMania 33 is still about seven months away but there are a lot of speculations about the event’s match card. According to the latest WWE rumors, John Cena vs. The Undertaker is all but confirmed for next year’s Grandest Stage of Them All.
The WWE recently released a video on their YouTube channel about the five superstars that could face John Cena in the “New Era.” Some of the names on the list include Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura, Finn Balor and Shane McMahon.
The Undertaker, who is currently being treated as a free agent by the WWE on television, also made it to the list. The names mentioned are all dream opponents for Cena but it would be hard to do at the moment with Joe and Nakamura at NXT.
Balor is still recovering from a shoulder injury while Shane-O-Mac is rumored to have a feud with Brock Lesnar in the Road to WrestleMania 33. It leaves only The Undertaker as a possible opponent for the 15-time WWE World Champion.
According to The Inquisitr, Cena vs. Taker was planned for WrestleMania 32 but it fell through when the former suffered an injury. The WWE seems to be teasing the match for next year’s grand spectacle and both superstars are keeping themselves healthy.
John Cena is currently working on a part-time schedule and he will miss the rest of the year starting mid-October to film the second season of “American Grit.” On the other hand, The Undertaker has not wrestled since April.
Nevertheless, it should be noted that these are just WWE rumors at the moment and plans tend to change. The Undertaker might not still be in good terms with Vince McMahon while Cena might end up getting his 16th world title at WrestleMania 33.
