Glen Jacobs, more commonly known as Kane, has been wrestling for more than 25 years and he is one of the longest-tenured superstars in the WWE. According to the latest WWE rumors, Kane may be close to retiring as he prepares for a possible mayoral campaign in 2018.

The 49-year-old wrestler started his career in the WWE as Isaac Yankem and Fake Diesel before being introduced as Kane, the kayfabe brother of The Undertaker. As Kane, Jacobs became one of the greatest superstars in the history of the company.

He is a two-time WWE World Heavyweight champion, one-time ECW champion and 12-time Tag Team champion. Besides being a professional wrestler, Kane is also an actor, an insurer and a well-known libertarian.

In an interview with WBIR-TV, Kane admitted that he is “strongly considering” running for the mayoral seat of Knox County in Tennessee under the Republican Party in 2018. He noted that he’s waiting for the results of the upcoming elections before making his final decision.

“Yes, I’ve talked about it with some folks but there’s nothing too solid yet. Mayor (Tim)Burchett’s term is coming up and I think he’s been really good for Knox County,” Kane said.

“I think the most important thing is I care very deeply about this community, like a lot of people do. And that’s the only reason I would consider getting into any sort of government because I do care very deeply. And I think it’s incumbent upon people who care about the communities to try to make a difference,” he added.

It is not the first time Kane was linked in politics as he was rumored to be running against Lamar Alexander for a senatorial position in 2013. Nonetheless, the WWE superstar will have a number of opponents in the 2018 mayoral campaign with Knox County Commissioner Bob Thomas and Knox County GOP chairman Buddy Burkhardt interested in the position.
