Kevin Owens shocked the world on Monday when he became the WWE Universal Champion by winning the Fatal 4-Way Match with the help of Triple H. The latest WWE rumors have revealed the possible plans for Owens’ reign and it could last until WrestleMania 33.
Seth Rollins was just seconds away from winning the match when Triple H turned on his former protégée, instead helping Owens become the WWE Universal Champion. According to Cageside Seats, Owens will have his feud as a champion against Rollins with a possible title match at “Clash of Champions.”
It is expected that KO will hold the title for more than a month since the WWE is going to build up the Rollins-Triple H rivalry. Joe Burgett of The Inquisitr thinks that Kevin Owens will be WWE Universal Champion until WrestleMania 33.
He noted that Finn Balor, who is currently out with a shoulder injury, is going to challenge The Prizefighter at the biggest event of 2017 in Orlando. WWE rumors and the injury updates on Balor are not good at the moment but The Demon promised that he will do all he can to be back before WrestleMania.
Owens holding the title for a very long period is not a bad idea since it will turn him into a credible heel champion, as well as the significance of the championship. Nevertheless, WWE’s plans always change due to certain factors including sales, injuries, and ratings.
It should be noted that these just are just WWE rumors and nothing has been confirmed. However, Kevin Owens and Finn Balor have already teased a future matchup on social media. These two superstars are great friends off camera and they like to play mind games with the fans.
