The WWE contacted several of its former superstars for a possible return to the company as part of the upcoming brand extension. However, the latest WWE rumors imply that the offers received are not very good and many may not return at all.
Some of the superstars that the WWE supposedly reached out to include Kurt Angle, Goldberg, Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio, Carlito, John Morrison, Shelton Benjamin, Shad Gaspard, JTG, MVPand Stevie Richards.
According to 411 Mania, the deals WWE are offering vary depending on the superstar’s name recognition and popularity. Some have reportedly been offered full-time WWE deals while others were offered part-time contracts that allow them to work on other independent promotions.
However, the money on the deals is rumored to be not that big enough to warrant a return to WWE’s rigorous schedule and backstage politics. Some of the veteran wrestlers make more money wrestling on different promotions while having an easy schedule.
Even though no names were mentioned, some former WWE superstars will reportedly turn down the offer while some are going to accept if the money increases. On the other hand, The Wrestling Observer reported on Thursday that the WWE is not interested in bringing back Kurt Angle.
Despite the 47-year-old confirming his return on Mark Madden’s Pittsburgh radio show, WWE officials told the Observer that a WWE comeback for Angle is not true. It is very sad news for wrestling fans if Angle will not have another run with the WWE since he deserves it.
Nonetheless, there is still hope that the WWE do not want people to talk about Angle’s return as they want it to be a big surprise. There is also a big chance that it’s true that Angle will not be coming back because of money, his past personal problems, health or age.
