There have been a lot of WWE rumors this year about a possible comeback by Kurt Angle but so far, nothing has happened. However, the latest WWE rumors imply that Angle is the frontrunner to become the pre-order exclusive character for WWE 2K18 which means he will surely be back next year.
The 47-year-old superstar has been angling for a return to the WWE to be able to have closure. He has reportedly talked to Vince McMahon and Triple H and he was certain in several interviews that it’s only a matter of time before he makes his first WWE appearance in more than ten years.
According to Four3Four.com, Angle is the frontrunner to become the pre-order exclusive character for WWE 2K18. In previous years, superstars like Sting, Ultimate Warrior, and Bill Goldberg helped promote the video game and they made special appearances in the WWE.
Sting wrestled for the WWE for the first ever and he was eventually inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. It also happened for the Ultimate Warrior and it will surely happen to Goldberg, who is set to battle Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series this Sunday.
The next big event will be next year’s Royal Rumble in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. WWE rumors backstage reveal that top officials want to sell out the 65,000-seater and they want to bring back several former superstars for the event.
According to The Inquisitr, Kurt Angle could be one of those former superstars coming back at the Royal Rumble. He would surely get a lot of pop from the crowd and a WrestleMania 33 match is not a question. A return match at the Grandest Stage of Them All will help fill the seats in Orlando.
However, WWE rumors earlier this year noted that Vince McMahon is worried about Angle’s past addiction. But Angle has been clean for the past three years which means he could very well be coming back as early as the Royal Rumble.
Nevertheless, these are just WWE rumors at the moment and should be taken with a grain of salt. The WWE’s ratings have been declining but a return by one of their most beloved superstars like Kurt Angle can certainly give them a boost.
