Triple H was rumored to be returning at Clash of Champions to help Kevin Owens retain the WWE Universal Championship but it did not happen. The latest WWE rumors have revealed the reasons why The Game did not appear on the card and the possible date of his return.
In his place, Chris Jericho interfered in behalf of KO and helped him retain the WWE Universal Title. The referee was knocked out and Jericho helped distract Rollins. Stephanie McMahon, who is Triple H’s wife, came down with a new referee just in time for Owens to hit his finisher on The Architect for the win.

According to Ringside News, the WWE decided to keep Triple H out of television due to the low ratings of Monday Night Raw. It is believed that top officials did not want to have a big superstar return when the viewers are down.
The report added that the WWE will bring back Triple H when the ratings are up but it would be hard for Raw to get viewers during the NFL season. Monday Night Football is the main reason why the ratings are going down and the past two shows have caused historically low ratings.
Will McCormick of The Inquisitr thinks that Triple H off of television also makes his feud with Seth Rollins feel more important. The signs point out that a match between the two stars at WrestleMania 33 is what the WWE is planning for the long term.
“The long-term objective is HHH vs. Seth Rollins, which is designed to help turn the latter into one of the biggest babyfaces WWE has ever had. If WWE officials are able to manage the momentum of a long-term program as they have in the past, The Architect vs. The Game could be something special for next year’s Wrestlemania,” McCormick added.
It should be noted that these are just WWE rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt. However, the signs are pointing towards a big Triple H-Seth Rollins feud but the next step is how to keep Rollins busy until The Game makes his return.
