The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) creative is planning a massive babyface push for Shinsuke Nakamura. WWE Rumors suggest that the 37-year-old superstar is expected to be vaulted into the main event scene sooner rather than later.

Nakamura is currently involved in a small feud with Dolph Ziggler. It is expected that the Japanese professional wrestling superstar will make a quick work of The Showoff. This will give him the much needed push for the creative to work on his babyface character, according to Cageside Seats.

SmackDown Live short in superstar talent

The SmackDown Live main event scene is currently short on Superstar talent. AJ Styles and Kevin Owens are battling over the United States Championship. Hence, elevating Nakamura as quickly as possible seems like a no-brainer. The Japanese Superstar is already one of the most popular performers on SmackDown.

WWE Rumors suggest that Randy Orton will carry the WWE World Championship over the summer. Vast majority of the fans will agree that The Viper is more suited as a heel than a babyface. Baron Corbin has also been rumored to be moving up the card into the main event picture.

However, The Lone Wolf is devoid of the experience required for a superstar in the main event scene. Hence, Nakamura is the perfect personality present in the SmackDown Live locker room to take the responsibility.

Nakamura has performed in front of huge crowds before and knows what it means to main event. Therefore, his ascension makes perfect sense.

It will be interesting to see just how WWE decides to book the Nakamura vs. Ziggler match at Backlash. The reality is that Nakamura should make short work of Ziggler, who is a talented performer but certainly not on Shinsuke’s credibility level right now.

It has to be noted that the two wrestler have history. Both Styles and Nakamura have put on some great matches in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). The most memorable match between the two was the one the two had at Wrestle Kingdom 10.

There has been constant speculation that the two will eventually have a bout in near future. It is being predicted to take place at WrestleMania 34.
