AJ Styles was pulled out of several live events last week and did not work the SmackDown tapings due to a number of “nagging injuries.” According to the latest WWE rumors, some top officials are worried about his long-term health and they want him to get as much rest as possible before his WWE championship match at Extreme Rules.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that Styles was suffering from an ankle and back injury. He was given a short time off by not having him work SmackDown, as well as three house shows over the weekend.
For those of you who were expecting to see AJ Styles this weekend, I apologize. Banged my ankle up pretty good, but I’ll be ready for RAW.

The WWE removed him from the live event in Greenville on Friday, in Raleigh on Saturday and Columbia, South Carolina on Sunday. Nonetheless, he worked in a limited capacity on the latest episode of Monday Night Raw in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The Phenomenal One opened the show with a short segment with Roman Reigns. They were both at ringside during the tag team match between Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows and The Usos.
The Usos eventually prevailed against Styles’ buddies but the No.1 contender got the upper hand against the champion. He attacked Reigns with a steel chair and ending it with a Styles Clash on the weapon.
Extreme Rules is just six days away as AJ Styles challenges Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight championship. The bout will be an Extreme Rules Match where there are no count outs, no disqualifications and everything goes.

According to Daily DDT, Styles has had a history of back problems before he signed for the WWE. However, he got cleared by the doctors and likely just needed a short rest before working another match.
Styles will be good to go against Reigns in what could be a very dangerous match since weapons will be legal. The WWE does not need another injury to their top stars even with many names like John Cena, Seth Rollins, Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt close to returning from their respective injuries.
