Many wrestling fans are clamoring for the WWE to ditch the PG era and return to TV-14 rating where blood adds color to a match or feud. One of its top stars recently said in an interview that he missed seeing blood on television. Will the WWE ever consider bringing it back?

John Cena is now out with a shoulder injury and has done promotional work for the WWE. He has been the face of the company for the past decade or so.

In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Cena admitted that he misses profanity, blood and the whole TV-14, but knows PG is best for business.

“I’m a 38-year-old man. I’d much rather it be a program geared toward me, whether that’s TV-14 or sometimes even more graphic than that, which is what I like. For one thing, profanity brought fire out of people with personalities that backed the language,” Cena said.

“Blood is one of the things that made fights cool. Like, you knew it had gotten serious. I understand why we don’t do it anymore. Vince has been a coach to me, a father figure, a boss and a friend, and his goal and my goal are the same: to make the company be as big as it can be. But, yeah, the blood is one thing I miss,” he added.

As far as the WWE rumors about the TV-PG ending, don’t get your hopes up. It’s a big part why the company has made more millions. The PG era brought opportunities for the WWE to partner with a lot of organizations.

Cena has been the personification of the PG era with his good guy attitude that kids love to cheer while the adults like to hate. His work with Make-A-Wish is outstanding while his merchandise sales are still at the top.

The WWE will not go back to TV-14 or turn John Cena heel if they know that it’s not best for business. The fans may hate it, but they still watch the product and that’s the important part for the WWE.

On the other hand, the latest WWE rumors suggest that Cena is close to getting cleared for a full in-ring return sometime next month. 24Wrestling reports that his original timetable for a return was in July, but he made great progress during rehabilitation.
