The Undertaker will enter the 2017 Royal Rumble Match and he is one of the favorites to win it. He’ll surely be in a match at WrestleMania 33 but his opponent is still a mystery. According to the latest WWE rumors, The Undertaker vs. Finn Balor could happen at WrestleMania 33.
Plans for The Undertaker changed
In the latest report by The Wrestling Observer (h/t The Inquisitr), Dave Meltzer noted that Vince McMahon has changed his mind about The Undertaker vs. John Cena at WrestleMania 33. The current plan for “The Deadman” is for him to face a Raw superstar.
“The proposed Undertaker vs. John Cena match is off the boards. Vince McMahon changed his mind on the match. Undertaker right now is not scheduled to challenge for either title on the show,” Meltzer reported.
“When he was on SmackDown, it was to build for him to face Cena. Now he will face someone on the Raw roster. There was a tease of Braun Strowman on Raw, but it will not be Strowman as things stand right now,” he added.
The Undertaker vs. Finn Balor at WrestleMania 33?
According to Blake Oestriecher of Forbes.com, the change in plans for The Undertaker means there is a possibility for a Finn Balor matchup. He pointed out that “The Demon” is the only superstar that stands out in the Raw roster.
Roman Reigns is still a big possibility but him, facing The Undertaker is too much. He was just voted as the most hated wrestler by fans and he’ll certainly get booed out of the building against a legend. The WWE’s plans of putting him over again will just go to waste…again.
Update on Finn Balor’s injury
Finn Balor is recovering well from his shoulder injury, but he won’t be back at the Royal Rumble, per ESPN. His target return is before WrestleMania 33 which means The Undertaker vs. Finn Balor is still very possible.
