The WWE has failed create their next great superstar despite John Cena being out for most the year. Nevertheless, several WWE superstars have improved their skills in and out of the ring. Here is SportsRageous’ list of the five most improved WWE superstars of 2016.
Even though Charlotte has only been wrestling for four years, she is already one of the best women’s wrestling in the world. She has been part of some of the most amazing matches this year with Sasha Banks.
Charlotte is probably the most athletic woman on the roster which means she will only get better in the ring. But the most significant improve she made was her microphone skills. Her recent promos and segments involving his father with Ric Flair made her the most hated woman in the WWE.
It was hard to judge RuRu during his first year in the WWE because he was wrestling squash matches. He then got buried on the awful love square angle last year before getting his mojo back in 2016. The League of Nations was terrible but Rusev got it going after that.
The Bulgarian Brute showed off his athleticism in his matches while also improving in the ring. He then proceeded to give the best promos of his career during his feud with Roman Reigns. And finally, his charisma has taken over his character and it is only a matter of time before he gets pushed as a babyface.
3. Roman Reigns
Say what you want about Roman Reigns but he is one of the most improved WWE superstars this year. He put up great matches in 2016 against the likes of A.J. Styles, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. Even though he did not carry those superstars, he was able to hang with them.
But the most improvement for Reigns is his microphone skills. He is not on The Rock’s level or even on Seth’s but he is very comfortable on the mic now compared to last year. If the WWE listens to the fans and they let Reigns be the silent type or his arrogant real-life self, he would get cheered.
2. Alexa Bliss
The Harley Quinn of the WWE was just a prospect when he was called to the main roster. She did not have any outstanding feud down in NXT so there were a lot of doubts about her ability. However, she proved everyone wrong as she is now the SmackDown women’s champion.
Alexa Bliss became the best heel woman on SmackDown and his character has taken off. She was also able to hang with a good wrestler like Becky Lynch. And at her age of just 25 years old, she could go on to become one of the greatest ever.
1. The Miz
Remember when everyone thought that The Miz’s run on the main event scene was over? The former WWE champion is the most improved superstar of 2016. His run as Intercontinental champion is up there as one of the best ever.
The Miz’s career resurgence took off when his real-life wife Maryse returned to become his valet. His promos are golden while his work in the ring vastly improved. The Miz is not only the most improved wrestler but he is also the best pure heel in the WWE at the moment.
