The WWE had a great year in terms of wrestling action inside and outside the ring. Here is SportsRageous’ list of the five craziest spots of 2016 starring Shane McMahon, who makes the list twice.
Roman Reigns spears Shane McMahon out of his Jordans (Survivor Series)
Shane McMahon tried to hit the Coast to Coast on Roman Reigns but The Big Dog met him with the spear midair. The impact was so hard that Shane was clearly knocked out cold momentarily. He had to be helped out by officials while Randy Orton comforted his kids who were at ringside.
Chris Jericho and 69 thumbtacks (Extreme Rules)
Although the Asylum Match between Chris Jericho and Dean Ambrose dragged on for almost 30 minutes, there was one crazy spot in it. Jericho tried to hit the Codebreaker on Ambrose but it was countered.
“The Lunatic” carried Jericho and dropped him onto a bed of thumbtacks. Ambrose then followed it up with a Dirty Deeds for the win. Jericho has really done it all and getting slammed to thumbtacks bareback was one of them.
Charlotte powerbombs Sasha Banks on the announce table (Hell in a Cell)
Charlotte and Sasha Banks made a lot of history this year including the first-ever women’s Hell in a Cell Match. At the start of the match, Charlotte powerbombed Sasha on the Spanish announce table. What made this crazier was Sasha has a history of back injuries and she had the guts to take that crazy spot.
A.J. Styles’ perfect 450 Splash (TLC)
The TLC Match between A.J. Styles and Dean Ambrose had several crazy spots. Ambrose hit an elbow drop to Styles, who was lying on the announce table. However, Styles did an even crazier spot when he hit a perfect springboard 450 Splash on Ambrose through the table on the outside.
Shane McMahon’s ‘Leaf of Faith’ (WrestleMania 32)
At WrestleMania 32, Shane McMahon faced off against The Undertaker in a Hell in a Cell Match. The ever-crazy and risk-taking Shane-O-Mac went atop the cage and took a “Leap of Faith.” He crashed onto the announce table as The Undertaker moved out of the way.
